How To Choose Lightweight Refractory Clay Bricks?

Table of Content

Lightweight clay brick is a lightweight thermal insulation-shaped product used for the thermal insulation layer of the furnace lining at a temperature of about 1100 °C.

The commonly used models include T-3 standard bricks and TC-22 and TC-23 models for the arch ring. The specific gravity is 1.2, 1.0, 0.8, 0.6, and the specific gravity of 1.0 is more common.

When inspecting lightweight clay refractory bricks, the appearance size can be measured directly with a ruler. The internal quality should not have a yellow heart. You can break a piece to see the inner quality. If there is a yellow heart phenomenon, it proves that the brick is not burnt through. The heat preservation effect will be affected during use. The strength of 1.0 lightweight clay bricks is 4MPa. When selecting, you can slide up and down along the corners of the lightweight bricks with your hands. If there is no slag during the sliding process, the lightweight clay bricks are proven. The strength can be.

When selecting lightweight clay bricks, you can tap the brick surface with a small wooden hammer. If the sound is clear, it proves that there are no internal cracks. If there are cracks, they must not be used. Because it will be broken into small particles during use, the tiny particles will also cause changes in the interval space, seriously affecting the insulation layer’s use effect.

Lightweight clay bricks are low in strength, so care should be taken when packaging them. The packaging methods include direct discharge on pallets, packaging with thin paper, wrapping with plastic film by winding machine, and then tightening with plastic steel.

This method is suitable for use when the transportation distance is short and the bottom of the vehicle is flat. If the transportation distance is long and the vehicle is not in good condition, the lightweight clay bricks should be packed into cartons, 6-10 pieces per box, placed on pallets, and wrapped with plastic film to ensure transportation. Lightweight clay bricks will not be worn or smashed, or broken corners.

In short, the selection of lightweight clay bricks should firstly be uniform in color, accurate in size, free of cracks, and free of sandwiches when sintered inside the bricks. The strength cannot be dropped when swiping up and down by hand, which can meet the use of the insulation layer.
